
Cristen Elaine Farinha, aged 54, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by her adoring family. Born on September 30, 1970, in Kansas City, MO, Cristen was a beacon of love and faith to all who knew her. She was the cherished daughter of George and Jeanette Ashley and grew up alongside her loving brother, John R. Ashley.
Cristen's early years were spent under the watchful eyes of her grandparents, John H. and Gladys J. Burney, both of whom preceded her in death. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she carried the legacy of her 'Gramps' and 'Granny' with grace and devotion. Cristen's heart found its match when she married her beloved husband, Jeffrey, with whom she built a beautiful life filled with joy and laughter, welcoming two wonderful children, Brian and Grace. She was also a devoted daughter in law to her Nanna, Evelyn Farinha.
A proud alumnus of Southwest Baptist University, Cristen pursued to the noble profession of nursing. Cristen embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom for 19 years, nurturing her children with love and dedication.Cristen's zest for life was evident in her numerous interests. An adventurous soul, she found solace and excitement in the great outdoors-hiking, climbing, and simply being in nature were sources of immense joy for her. Her faith in the Lord Jesus was a guiding force throughout her life, and she was actively involved in her church, where she formed many lifelong friendships.
Her love for music filled the family home with melodies and her laughter was a frequent and welcome sound during the many card games she played with friends and family. An avid reader, Cristen always had a book close at hand, ready to explore new worlds and ideas.
Described by those who knew her as adventurous, faith-filled, and loving, Cristen's legacy is one of boundless love and enduring faith. Her spirit of adventure and her capacity for love knew no bounds, touching the lives of everyone around her. Her brother, John R. Ashley, will fondly remember her as the best sister one could ask for; his children, Emma and Rachel, will miss Aunt Cristen.
Cristen's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide them. The family she leaves behind will honor her legacy by living life to the fullest, just as she did.

A family directed memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Abundant Life Church (3531 S. Scenic Ave, Springfield, MO 65807). Visitation will be held before the service starting at 10:00 a.m.
