North side Springfield residents must be delighted to have power restored after nearly a day and a half without electricity. Several power lines were downed, with multiple trees and limbs blown into houses and infrastructure throughout the northwest, north-central, and downtown areas of Springfield after a powerful storm produced a tornado and high winds.

Multiple businesses along N. Kansas Expressway and Kearney Street were without power, rendering them closed. After CU Utilities successfully restored power, many businesses reopened yesterday to resume normal operations.

Cleanup efforts are still underway to repair the city. The Springfield News Journal appreciates the hardworking men and women who worked tirelessly to restore power to our fine city.
