I turned my head, and sure enough, it was a dove. She was flying around the library from one corner to the other in search of an exit. Several library patrons and staff members turned their attention to the "fierce bird of prey," while maintenance workers did their best to support its safe exit from the Library Center.

Eventually, the dove made its way back to the research and records area of the library, where staff decided to turn off the lights and open a window. After some time—and some gentle talking to the creature—staff successfully released the bird safely.
